Five ingredient Cool down Smoothie

When the sun is high, and the weather is sweet… food becomes less about dense tmeals and more about cooling and light refreshment that energises and nourishes at the same time.

When it is super hot,  this is our go to drink. We are sure you will love it too for its simplicity and effectiveness.

watermelon-smoothie

Ingredients 

(serves 2)

about 200g of watermelon, fresh

60g of frozen berries (either raspberries, strawberries, wild blueberries or cherries)

2 heap TBLS of tahini (feel free to replace with another favourite of yours)

40g-50g of cacao nibs

pinch of sea salt

a handful of icecubes (depending on how hot it is!)

 

Method

Start by scooping out the watermelon and adding rough chunks to a high speed blender. Add ice, couple of tablespoons of tahini or another seed/nut putter of your choice, frozen berries, cacao nibs and a  pinch of salt. Blend well, using the water from watermelon to start off the blending process. You might need the help of a push stick, depending what blender you are using. If you are the lover of sweeter things, you might want to add a small glug of maple syrup or other liquid sweetener you have handy.
