Personalise Your Morning Smoothie

| 31 August 2017

Like starting your day with a smoothie?  We do.

If you do too, your breakfast smoothie should be personal just like you.

This week we are sharing our favourite morning powerhouse-of-a-smoothie which we use as a base and customise into infinite different possibilities, to keep it both simple, delicious, and easy to make (in flow with ingredients we usually have in our pantry) whilst keeping it new and interesting every time. We make this smoothie anytime we need a lot of steady energy to keep going for long periods of time, and it works magic. It is a hit with visiting friends too!

(two huge portions or 4-5 small ones)

2 frozen or fresh ripe bananas

1-2 TBLS of tahini or nut/seed butter of your choice

1 TBLS of coconut oil (for slow-release energy)

6 pitted dates or a handful of unbleached apricots (replace with any dry berry)

a handful of buckwheat groats (optional, great source of protein and iron)

a handful of cacao nibs (for energy and happiness)

pinch of salt (for balance)

few drops of vanilla essence

a big handful of frozen or fresh wild blueberries or raspberries (or any other frozen/fresh berry or green)(for vitamin C and antioxidants)

1 TBLS Camu Camu powder (replace with baobab or acerola cherry powder) (for high dose vitamin C)

approx 1L of water

Start by adding dates, tahini, coconut oil, cacao nibs, buckwheat groats, salt to your blender jug. (You will need a high-speed blender or a Nutribulet for this. Add just enough water to cover all the ingredients and blend well until you get a thick but a little runny smooth cream. Then add roughly chopped bananas, berries, Camu Camu powder and vanilla. Add enough water to cover the ingredients and blend again till smooth. Adjust the thickness of the smoothie by adding extra water and blending again for a moment.
