Pineapple & Hemp Green Smoothie

We are fans of smoothies because it is an awesome way to incorporate whole foods rather than juice extracts.

Whole foods do not create violent sugar spikes in your body and make you last fuller and more energised for longer.

Also, there are so many medicinal compounds in fibre, seeds and skin of the fresh fruit and vegetables that it is just a shame to chuck it through the back of your juicer.

Try smoothing rather than juicing more and see if you like it. 

It is such an easy, quick, simple way to get all that yummy nutrition into you. And there’s only one blender to wash up afterwards. Win-win.

Today we are sharing Pineapple & Hemp Green Smoothie recipe enhanced with such medicinal powerhouses as fresh turmeric and chlorella while still tasting totally amazing.

Ingredients

(serves 2-4)

1 organic pineapple

1 cup of coconut milk (fresh and raw when possible)

1 inch of fresh turmeric (or 1 tsp of ground powder)

1/2 inch of fresh ginger

3 inches of fresh lemongrass

30g hemp seeds (hulled)

1tsp-1TBLS chlorella (or any other green powder)

juice of 1/2 lime

Method

Chop ginger and turmeric fine, against the grain and add to the blender first. Add 200ml of spring water. Peel, chop and add pineapple on top. Add hemp seeds and blend till smooth. Squeeze the juice of the lime, add 50ml-100ml of coconut milk then according to your taste preference 1tsp to 1TBLS of green powder of your choice. Our favourite is chlorella. Blend again and your super quick smoothie is ready!
